Moving!

Posted by Mykaela K. McDowell
Well, we are madly packing for our move to Oak Harbor, WA, and from there to Okanogan, WA.  Papa is going to work with Bro. Chris Majors on the North Central Washington Baptist Outreach project in the Okanogan, Omak,  and we are SO excited!  Right now we are working on getting housing for our temporary stay in Oak Harbor before we get sent out of the church there in a couple of months or so.  Please pray that we will be able to move out of Fossil in a timely manner, and that we would be able to figure out housing.  God has been so good to us lately, and we are looking forward to seeing what He will do in our lives.  Thank you all for your support in prayer!

Wow!!

Our blog has been kerflopping lately, and now we are FINALLY able to do it again!!!  All of us are doing well, we had a good Thanksgiving and now are really looking forward to Christmas!  Praise the Lord for another good year!  Here are some recent pictures of the family.  The picture of the yawning cat is one Micah took with the new camera he just bought, and he's really enjoying that.  Baby Kebron just turned one, and he is such a cutie!!  I have recently started doing fresh bread deliveries in town, so I've been busy doing that.  Papa has also really got into making routered wood signs, and they are SO nice!  Here is a link to his blog with pictures: http://www.fossilwoodworks.blogspot.com/  More posts soon!

Wheeler County Fair and Rodeo

Posted by Mykaela Karee McDowell
Here is a post about the Wheeler County fair and rodeo that went on in August, 2011. We all entered things, and most of us got first on at least one of our exhibits. Papa won the Bob’s Red Mill best bread contest, so he has $50.00 and 10 lbs. of flour coming to him!! Micah got first place on a coin collection, and also on watermelon eating for his age division. Mercy also won the watermelon contest for her age group. I won both watermelon eating and seed spitting, so I got a $5.00 gift certificate and a t-shirt. :) I also got first prize on some bread, and on a necklace I had made. Mama entered lots of photos, and got quite a few ribbons for those.
On Saturday, a new family in our church paid our way into the rodeo…we have lived here 9 years, and had never been to our own rodeo!! :) So we went with them, and had a really good time.

Big Trip

Posted by Mykaela K. M.

Well, well, we are FINALLY posting an entry about our trip we took last month!!  It has been WAY too long since the last post!  We had so much fun seeing all of our old friends in St. Louis, our family in Michigan, Indiana, and South Dakota, and meeting new friends, too!  On our first day we drove straight from Fossil to Salt Lake City, Utah!  On the next morning we were planning on visiting the lake itself, but we ended up going to the Mormon temple instead.  It was so sad to see the utter spiritual darkness there, even with all the beauty of the temples.

We stopped in Cheyenne, WY, then in Lincoln, Nebraska, then went on to St. Louis, making it a 4-day trip from Oregon to Missouri.  On the way we stopped at the Cabela’s world headquarters, and spent a couple of hours there.

While we were in St. Louis, we visited Mama’s younger sister in Sunset Hills, and we had a wonderful day with them.  Auntie Kellene fixed us such special food! :)

After St. Louis we went on to my aunt and uncle’s camp near Corydon, Indiana.  We spent nearly a week there on the huge camp ground doing everything in the world from S’mores to peddle-boating!!

Below is a picture of a tire swing at the camp.  Thing is—it normally doesn’t have water there!  We swung anyway. :)

Kim, Michelle (Papa’s twin), Troy, and Mike.

While we were there at the camp, a huge storm system moved in, and we ended up staying in the basement of the dining hall at camp from about 11:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.  That made an interesting memory and story to tell!  Smile with tongue out Smile

We went up to Michigan to stay with my grandparents for a few days, and we celebrated resurrection Sunday at their church in Ludington, MI.  After church we went to a nice park, and took a few family pictures there.  We didn’t have time to change out of our church clothes, so we were all having the time of our lives with our nice clothes on! On our way back home we stopped in S.D. for a day in order to visit Mama’s grandparents.  We also spent half a day at Wall drug in Wall, South Dakota.

In Sheridan, Wyoming we were able to spend the night at a hotel with a very nice pool.  We all love swimming very much, and a hotel pool is a huge treat for us.

We stopped in Spokane, Washington the next night with another pool.  After a very short 6 hour drive the next day, we were finally HOME!  Worn out, but not much the worse for wear.  We had a ball on this trip, but I was really glad to be home.  I cannot imagine doing that every year, but once in a while a trip like this is something VERY special and we made so many fun memories.
